It’s October and time to get planting! It’s too late to plant some flowers from seed in USDA Zone 9, with a few exceptions. Sweet peas can be planted now until January. Fall Flower arrangements with Pumpkin

I have a love/hate relationship with Pinterest. It can be such a fun source of ideas, inspiration and lust. It can also drive me frickin’ bonkers with the overload of matchy-matchy parties with fifty different desserts all piled on a table- are we trying to put six-year olds in a sugar coma? And I have yet to meet a kid that likes to drink out of one of those paper straws regardless of its cuteness. Back to good Pinterest. Spotting images of pumpkins …

Fall Flowers for your home

Fall Flowers for your home

Fall is one of my favorite times in the garden; while the heat of summer may have dried out the lawn and many of the flowering plants that burst into bloom in the late spring, fall brings its own beautiful days and a colorful flush of bright annuals and perennials, if you plan ahead. Lots of gorgeous plants bloom in the fall and can turn the yard into a sea of bright red, yellow and orange, lifting the gloom of sunsets that come earlier. And the weather …

Fall flower garden Preparation

From a wild animal s point of view, our annual autumn rituals of raking leaves and cleaning up yards and gardens are a major blow: Just when the going gets tough, we re removing prime sources of food and shelter. So do the animals (and yourself) a favor and skip the raking, bagging, trimming, and other yard chores this fall—it might just help your neighborhood wildlife survive the coming cold weather. Cheap fall Flower bulbs

Two groups of fall-blooming bulbs are commonly known as “autumn crocus, ” but in fact, they’re completely unrelated. The first of these is Colchicum (native to Africa and Eurasia), whose other common names include “naked ladies”—due to their habit of blooming months after their leaves have matured and disappeared—and misleadingly as “meadow saffron” (all parts of the plant are poisonous, and shouldn’t be consumed). The second group is comprised of …

Flowering fall flowers

Whether it is berries, burlap, pumpkins or candy, there are simple ways to bring autumn to your flowers. And in a feng shui sense, why are flowers so important? Well, flowers are ephemeral freshness of each season, a way to bring more nature indoors and a reminder to savor each moment as it is right now! The berries and the nearly frosted palette are gorgeous, as is the delicacy and balance of the arrangement. I will never argue with you if you want …
