Aster flowers

Aster flowers are a wonder of the summer garden. The lavishly found lavender colored flowers are a pride of any garden. These Aster flowers are usually grown as a bunch which adds to the wonderful color of lavender.

Aster flowers are a genus of flowering plants in the family Asteraceae. The genus once contained nearly 600 species in Eurasia and North America. The name Aster is derived from the Ancient Greek word astron, meaning “star”, through the Latin word astrum with the same meaning.

Aster flowers directly grow on the garden needs no extra care for blossoming. Though preferred with green house effect, Aster flowers can be grown anywhere during the summer and spring seasons.

Classifications of Aster flowers

Dwarf Aster flowers: These are usually used in pots, containers or at the front of gardens as edging or shaping the garden. Such Aster flowers are usually 8-12 inches tall.

Spider Aster flowers: The Aster flowers with petals that are quite thin, found in a range of colors other than lavender, and usually tend to grow 18-14 inches tall.

Powder puffs Aster flowers :These kind are an old fashioned type that look like a ball of petals. Though old fashioned, such Aster flowers are quite tall – in the 36 inch range.

Semi-Double Aster flowers: As the name says it all – these Aster flowers have more than a single row of petals but not full double petals.

Double Aster flowers: The petals on these Aster flowers are a full double flower and resemble pom-poms in the garden, usually considered to be the common variety.

Aster flowers usually come in the colors of lavender, white and off white. Bunch Aster flowers are a popular filler flower with a delightful daisy-shaped bloom with a yellow center for the flower. These wonderful lavender color flower would decorate any table centerpiece, wedding bouquet or flower arrangement, it will just take your breath away.
